CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR ADVANCED ADULT DRAMA GROUP
Huge congrats to our advanced ADULT DRAMA GROUP (Aoise Mulrooney, Kate Kenny, Astrid Courtney, Evanna Walsh, Edwina O’Sullivan, Ciara Fitzgibbon and Sinead Keogh) who did fantastically well in the Bray One Act Festival last week!
Our wonderful Eimear O’Riordan took the BEST DIRECTOR AWARD and also a merit award for her ORIGINAL SCRIPT WRITING! Congratulations also to EVANNA WALSH and EDWINA O’SULLIVAN for their nominations for Best Supporting Actress and Best Young Actress. We are so proud of you all and yet another reason to feel blessed to have the very special and talented Eimear O’Riordan on our school team. Eimear directs our annual school show every year in the Mill Theatre, Dundrum.
DRAMA FOR BEGINNERS COURSE STARTING MONDAY MARCH 4th MT MERRION COMMUNITY CENTRE 7.30-9PM
A six week ‘Drama for Beginners’ course will commence on Mondays at 7.30-9pm on 4th March in Mt Merrion Community Centre. This course, given by Mel Ryan, is aimed at people who are curious about the technique of acting and public speaking but who have no experience whatsoever. We are very excited and honoured to have Tony Finnegan visit us to give this workshop! Tony is an award-winning actor and director. He is co-owner and director of Festival Productions who, amongst many other productions, are responsible for the Christmas show in the National Concert Hall every year. Many of you may have seen him as the Lion in the Wizard of Oz, Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music, Fagan in Oliver, Daddy Warbucks in Annie or Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady. This workshop will be so much fun with Tony!

We are delighted to be offering a series of one-off workshops over the next few months and our first one is a fun Hip Hop Workshop with our wonderful dance teacher Rachel Tracey in the Sports Hall, Mount Merrion Community Centre with Juniors (6-8yrs) from 1-3pm and Seniors (9-13yrs) from 3-5pm.
The cost is €25, €45 for two siblings and €60 for three siblings.
Rachel studied at Laine Theatre Arts, London, and has been working professionally as a dancer for many years. She has appeared in several Gaiety Theatre and Cork Opera House pantomimes and productions, (most recently in Rapunzel last Christmas), along with many other productions in the UK also. On TV she has appeared in The Life of a Ballerina, Love/Hate, Mrs. Brown’s Boys D’Movie, Ripper Street, Penny Dreadful, The Daniel O’Donnell Show and Little Women. She is also an experienced teacher, has a very special nature and the kids adore her!
This is open to all non- students of The Mel Ryan School also.
